What You Should Know About Commercial Vitamin C

While naturally occurring Vitamin C has wonderful properties, it is not stable and so once it’s been removed from its original source it rapidly looses it's vitality. When Vitamin C is taken from an orange or rose hip, it breaks down in a matter of days and as such it's not usable in a skincare product. In order to achieve a serum with Vitamin C, big corporate skincare uses what is called a "derivative Vitamin C. This is a problem because when these derived compounds are applied to your skin, they actually increase free radicals, which is exactly what it’s supposed to be preventing.

We get around all of this by using ingredients naturally high in Vitamin C. Sure, it’s a little bit more expensive than the fake stuff, but we think the benefits are well worth it.
